Bringing together Canada-connected individuals and organizations in Asia.
The Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and Universities Canada are working together to deliver a world-class event in February 2023 – the Canada-in-Asia Conference – to catalyze a new and transformative phase of Canada-Asia engagement.
This conference of up to 500 participants will draw together Asia-based Canadian university alumni and major Canadian actors in Asia’s business and innovation landscape, with the potential to represent the most extensive people-to-people and institutional linkages across Canada and Asia to date.
Speakers
Keynote speakers and panellists will be drawn from leading minds and power-players in Canada and Asia, including senior ministers, current and potential Nobel-laureate researchers, dynamic business leaders, and cultural figures.

President and Lee Kong Chian Chair Professor of Social Sciences, Singapore Management University
Nobel Laureate, Physics 2018 & Professor, University of Waterloo
Global Strategy Advisor & Bestselling Author
Professor Kong is SMU’s fifth President, and the first Singaporean to lead the 22-year-old university. She is also the first Singaporean woman to head a university in Singapore. She was previously Provost of SMU, Vice Provost, and Vice-President at the National University of Singapore (in various portfolios).
Dr. Donna Strickland is a recipient of the Nobel Prize in Physics 2018 and a professor in the Department of Physics and Astronomy at the University of Waterloo. Donna was a research associate at the National Research Council Canada, a physicist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and a member of the technical staff at Princeton University.
Parag Khanna is a leading global strategy advisor, world traveller, and bestselling author. He is Founder & CEO of Climate Alpha, an AI-powered analytics platform to forecast asset values and future-proof global real estate, and Founder & Managing Partner of FutureMap, a data and scenario-based strategic advisory firm.
