Agenda
Plenary Sessions
CIAC2025’s four substantive plenary sessions bring together all conference attendees and focus on major cross-cutting themes and ideas in the Canada-Asia relationship as well as global challenges such as geopolitics, the renewed space race, sustainable investment, and infrastructure.
Concurrent Sessions, Sectors & Engagement Tracks

CIAC2025 offers four concurrent session blocks, which can be navigated by either sectors or engagement tracks. Four sectors have been identified after extensive consultation with CIAC stakeholders and represent areas in which there is much opportunity for collaboration between and among Canada-based and Asia-based firms, researchers, and institutions. Engagement tracks offer an alternative pathway to engage for those who are more interested in themes that cut across these sectors.
Related (non-CIAC) events are listed in YELLOW.
Agenda subject to change.

Strengthening evidence-informed policymaking in Asia over five decades: Perspectives from IDRC’s research for development investments
For over five decades, Canada’s International Development Research Centre (IDRC) has supported research to improve people’s lives across the world, including Asia. IDRC’s work in Asia has aimed to increase research that can shape development policies, build local research capacity, foster adaptation to climate change, improve food and livestock systems, boost health systems and readiness, advance women’s economic empowerment and gender equality, and create inclusive technological solutions to development issues.
With a strong focus on co-creating knowledge with Southern researchers and in partnership with Canadian institutions, IDRC's projects are catalyzing sustainable, scalable solutions that empower individuals and strengthen institutions.
This side event will highlight insights from key research initiatives across Asia and demonstrate how this research has informed policy and action to help build a more inclusive, sustainable, and resilient Asia over the decades. Representatives from IDRC, leading research institutions, think tanks and development agencies will share insights on their work, including from IDRC-supported research initiatives and its impact on development policymaking.
This panel will also focus on the critical role of IDRC in supporting research for development priorities and opportunities across Asia.
